Peter Turner(Landlord) and the missing flag

We can be very grateful indeed to Peter Turner who was landlord of the George and Dragon Inn from 1992 onwards. He was involved in this fascinating story of the lost flag and worked hard to solve the mystery. A great story and we are hoping to add to it in the future. Peter also compiled a wonderful video of the George and Dragon inn in 1994 capturing the atmosphere of this lovely pub. This features wartime music, the wartime panels and the famous flag. We now have the video preserved and you can view it on our D-Day Celebrations 1995 page. No one seems, unfortunately, to know where the flag is now. Thank you Peter.

We may now never know who the mystery airman was that took the flag but maybe one day someone will come forward to close the circle on this fascinating tale
