Noah was born 21/10/1917 and joined the RCAF on 21st October 1940 in Kingston, Ontario. Fl/Lt N. Cassibault was an early graduate of the BCATP, training at No.1 Wireless School in McDonald, Manitoba. He was posted overseas in July 1941 and served as a rear gunner with 57 Sqn. During an operation to Bremen on 23/7/1942 he destroyed a JU-88 from his rear turret. He continued to serve with 57 sqn as it converted to Lancasters. He was forced to bale out over home territory in Nov 1942 when his Lancaster (W4246) ran out of fuel after completing a mining mission to the River Gironde. The crew successfully jumped out of the stricken Lancaster before it crashed 16 miles south west of Sevenoaks in Kent. He received facial lacerations as a result of his parachute shroud lines getting tangled but returned to duty a short time after. He went on to complete two tours of operations and to be credited with two enemy aircraft destroyed.
After being repatriated to Canada in March 1944, he was posted to No.10 Bombing and Gunnery School at Mount Pleasant as an instructor. He married Frieda “ Rita” in 1948 and had three children Christopher, Wendy and Karen. Known as “Cassie” to his fellow aircrew. He died aged 73
(13/7/1990). Rita died in Nov 2016 aged 95.
