WEIGHTMAN D Sqn Ldr DFC

Sqn/Ldr Douglas Dennison Weightman DFC 41084

Douglas joined the RAF in 1938. Flying an Anson Aircraft K6253 of 269 Sqn, he attacked a U boat on 8th December 1939.
He survived the war but died in October 1948 as a test pilot. He was seconded to Bristol to test a Brigand. On the second production test flight all four propeller blades detached, severing part of the nose structure causing the engine to detach. He managed a forced landing but was killed on impact with a tree
