F/O John A’Beckett Penleigh (Pat) BOYD DFC and Bar
400691 Pat was born 1sr February 1915 in Brighton Australia. He enlisted on the 13th October 1940.
Brought down a Ju-88 on 29/8/1942 while serving with 125 sqn at RAF Fairwood Common.While serving with 125 Sqn at RAF Exeter his navigator was Pilot Officer F G Saunders.Pat (31 Sqn) was flying a Beaufighter (A19 – 189) with his navigator F/O Fred Anderson on 16th July 1944 when during a long range sortie to the Flores Islands he shot down a Kawasaki KI-45 and damaged two more (code name Nicks). He was awarded an immediate DFC
Later promoted to Squadron Leader.Pat died in 1981 in Perth Australia.
